How is artificial intelligence changing the way we learn, create and understand the world around us? At the next EDUC Youth Integration Lab, students will explore the opportunities and challenges of AI through discussions, workshops and practical activities focused on attention, learning, creativity and critical thinking.
What will we explore?
The Attention Economy
How do social media platforms, algorithms, notifications and personalised content influence our attention and habits? We will look at changes in attention and cognitive functions, gamification, personalised advertising and data collection, and ask who benefits from the attention economy.
AI and Learning
AI is already changing the way students learn and work. Together, we will explore how AI can support learning, where the line between smart learning and cheating might lie, and how education may change as AI becomes increasingly common. We will also discuss what forms of AI use should be accepted in educational institutions.
AI and Creativity
What does creativity mean when AI can generate images, text, music and other forms of creative work? We will discuss creativity, authorship, originality and the value of human work, as well as the opportunities and challenges AI may bring to creative professions.
In Feed Veritas... or Not
AI-generated images, videos and deepfakes are making it increasingly difficult to know what is real. Participants will explore how to verify images, videos and quotations, develop critical approaches to online information, and understand how algorithms can create personalised "bubbles" and different versions of reality.
The programme will also look at the impact of distorted images and unrealistic expectations on young people, including beauty standards, filters and the alternative realities promoted online.
How will we work?
The Youth Integration Lab will use a participatory approach combining lectures, panel discussions, round tables and workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with peers, discuss questions with experts and work together on the topics explored during the programme.
Who can apply?
The call is open to BA and MA students from all disciplines.
A B2 level of English is required to participate.
Financial support
Selected participants will receive an EDUC mobility grant of €625 to support their participation and help cover travel, accommodation, meals, and other related costs.
